Location

Vatera is a seaside place with a long sandy beach with a length of 8 kilometers and quite wide. They are located in the southern part of the island and are an ideal destination for your summer holidays. In the area there are several beach bars with sunbeds and umbrellas, cafes, taverns and accommodation for your stay.

Vatera beach is the largest on the island, but also one of the largest in Europe. It is known for its 8 km long sandy beach, clear waters, ideal for swimming, water sports and mostly preferred by families.

Enjoy boating from Vatera to Panagia Kryfti. Throughout the summer there are sea excursions starting in front of our restaurant.

At a distance of 2 km from Vatera, there is the picturesque port with the church of Agios Fokas. We suggest you visit it in the afternoon and see the sunset.

At a distance of 7km from Vateras, you will find the hot springs of Polichnitos Lesvos with the name of Hippocrates. They are considered the warmest (87.6°C) and the best in Europe in terms of therapeutic ingredients combined with water temperature. They are chlorosodium and can treat musculoskeletal (chronic rheumatism, arthritis, sciatica, neuralgia), skin and gynecological diseases.

At a distance of 2 km from Vatera is the village of Vrissa. She is said to have taken her name from Vriseis, the daughter of a priest during the time of the Trojan War. At a distance of about 800 meters there is a well, which the villagers still call Achilles' well, that is Achilles' well, because it is said that Achilles used to water his horses there.
Vrissa is a preserved traditional settlement that unfortunately in 2017 was hit by an earthquake, a unique global geological phenomenon, which almost leveled it, leaving few houses unscathed and taking the life of a woman.
Vrissa is being rebuilt and several houses have been completed to date.
